Is Trump Intent On Continuing His Media War?

During the election campaign Donald Trump challenged the legitimacy of the mainstream media and called them “dishonest” and “failing.” On a couple of occasions he called journalists who cover him “scum.”

He said at a rally in August: "I’m not running against Crooked Hillary. I’m running against the crooked media. That’s what I’m running against."

In the eyes of his supporters he discredited the media houses;  he dubbed their negative stories about him false and barred popular reporters from covering his campaign.

It seems his confrontation with the press will carry over to his administration. Of late, he has again started tweeting against the New York Times.

Perhaps Trump believes that the "leftist press" is the biggest threat to the success of his presidency. But if he continues to blame the media for his troubles, he may start seeming desperate, undisciplined, and peevish. Ignoring the media can be a better strategy for him.

He is expected to fight the leftist politicians and the bureaucrats who wield too much power over peoples lives—he should not be wasting his ammo (Tweets) on the media.
